Wilma Carter

Wilma Carter, 68, of Columbus, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 surrounded by family.

She was born to the late Ardamon Binford and Ophelia Johnson on September 18, 1952 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.

Wilma was a lifetime member of Rehoboth Temple Church of Christ. She was on the usher board, greeting committee, hospitality committee, church of Jesus Christ international women’s council, Rehoboth women’s ministry, and the Templeaires choir. She retired from SBC/AT&T in 2002 after which she became a child-care provider for 10 years.

As the youngest, but toughest of her siblings she was a no non-sensed straight shooter who loved traveling, working crossword puzzles, doing yard work, and shopping in her leisure. She was a superb dresser especially when it came to her fabulous hats. She was a loving, devoted and protective mother and grandmother who kept the great-grands in line with the assistance of “do good”.

Her greatest joy was serving wherever she was needed with a loving attitude. Her beautiful personality and radiant smile are what others loved so much about her. Wilma’s prayer was that everyone would love one another as God has commanded us to do.

She leaves to cherish her memories daughter, Michelle (Anthony) Peaks; grandchildren, Deliqua Peaks, Anthony (Amber) Peaks, Ashley (Terrence) Chavis; great-grandchildren, Devin “Pat Peaks” Peaks, Adrienne Peaks, Tymier “Reck it Ralph” Peaks, Legend Chavis, Finley Peaks; sisters, Carolyn Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; Annette (James) George of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Wilfred Hilson, Lamar Jaynes; special friend, James “Roy” Brown; best friend, Gloria Turner and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

PRIVATE Visitation 10:30 AM and Funeral Service 11:30 AM Saturday, October 24, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
